FAQ

What is HCI and what is so cool about it?

HCI was a maximum-security prison located in South Florida, USA. The prison closed in 2012. We are a group of guys who have a prison kink who have created the event. The prison itself sits on over 50 acres with over 10 different buildings on site. We use the maximum-security building for roleplaying. We have been using this site since 2021 and each event gets better and better. If you have a prison kink, this is the holy grail of play spaces and you can’t find another prison like this…without catching a real charge!

Am I allowed to use my phone during the event?

To keep the prison roleplay authentic, we encourage inmates to not use their phones during the event. But we understand some might need to check in with work, family, etc. Therefore, we allow one or two cell phone checks a day; usually one in the morning and one in the evening. Cell phones will be collected at intake or it’s best to place them with your belongings.

How long are the events?

The events are usually 4 days, Thursday to Monday morning. We will start cleaning up and slowly transitioning out of roleplay Sunday evening, but everyone is still on site until Monday morning.

How do I get to the prison?

If you are an inmate, we highly, highly suggest you come into town no later than Wednesday evening. Most inmates stay at the same hotel. Thursday morning when the event starts, we will give you an address and time to be at the pick-up location. The pickup location is used for those that are wanting to be transported to the prison in our prison transport van. We recommend getting in contact with a few other inmates and rent a vehicle together. If you have a rental car, one of the guards will bring the car onsite of the prison. It is less than a mile or two drive to the prison.  If you are self-surrendering, we will give you the address to the sallyport and time to turn yourself in. If you are a guard, we welcome the guards to show up on Wednesday, one day before the event.

How long is the ride in the prison van?

The pick up location is only a mile or two from the prison, but the ride to the prison in the van will be anywhere from 15-25 minutes.

Is there air conditioning or heat at the prison?

When the prison was open and operational, there was no air conditioning. There are two large fans, and a highly engineered ventilation system that draws the hot air out and utilizes the windows in the cell to draw in fresh air. Being in south Florida, there is no need for heat. If there is a chilly night, all inmates are issued blankets.

What is the address of the prison?

We aim to keep the exact address of the prison hidden from the public. Some people don’t agree with our fetish and we don’t want to have any unwelcomed visitors show up and vandalize the place. Additionally, this prison sits on over 200 acres, 50 of them being the actual prison compound, so we are very popular for urban explorers.

What airport do I fly into?

Most people fly into Fort Lauderdale airport (FLL). But other airports that can be used are Fort Myers Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) or Miami Airport (MIA).

What is the process for signing up for the event?

This is a very large-scale event. We often have more then 50 people attending the event. Due to the sensitivity of the kink, we are very particular on who we pick to invite to the event. We often have players that work in public safety (law enforcement, firefighters, EMT’s, etc.), lawyers, doctors, and other highly sensitive career positions. We stive to protect our players and have a drama-free event.  If you are interested in this event, please fill out our questionnaire and submit it to us. We will be contact with you. The steps include a zoom video call to introduce ourselves and get to know you. We will explain the event, find out your expectations, and answer any questions you might have. Once we feel you will be a good fit, you will be added to our private telegram group. In this group you will be able to chat with other HCI players and this is the platform we use for all announcement regarding the event.  Please note: In order to come to the event, we will send you an application which will includes your REAL Name, address, and emergency contact information. We respect stage names, and we will use that for the event, but for the application process, all real names will be used. The only people that have access to your real information is the admin team. We’ve never had to use anyone’s emergency contact information, but if something did happen, we want to be prepared. If you are not comfortable with giving this information, then you are not ready to be a part of our events.

Is there bondage involved, sexual acts, and can I bring my own bondage equipment?

The easiest way to answer this question is ask yourself, does your equipment get used in a real prison system? If the answer is no, then more than likely the answer will be no, we will not use it. We provide handcuffs, leg cuffs, connection chains, belly chains, padlocks, black boxes, transport hoods, transport restraints, spit hoods, handcuff tubes, and suicide smocks. We have used strait jackets, and humane restraints, but this would be case by case basis and it’s not a guarantee we will get to use them. If you are interested in bringing equipment whether it’s cuffs or straight jacket, make sure they are approved and marked somehow so we know they are yours. All handcuffs must use the standard NIJ handcuff key. One goal for HCI is we strive to provide the most accurate and realistic prison experience as possible. This is NOT a sex-based event. Any sexual acts between others will result in asking you to leave.

What’s included in the price of the event admission?

I have medications, CPAP or other things I MUST keep in my cell. What am I allowed to bring or keep in my cell?

We allow inmates to bring a clear bag that has all your medical necessary items in them. Such as, your medication, CPAP, glasses, contacts etc. All inmates will handle their own medication. This clear bag is considered off limits to play. The inmate can NOT use the bag to hide contraband and the guards can’t search the bag. We will provide distilled water for your CPAP.

What if I need to get a hold of a guard for an emergency or talk to them outside of roleplaying?

At HCI, safety is our number one priority. This isn’t some BDSM play space. The cell doors are designed to hold inmates in. They are unforgiving. We provide a whistle in each cell and inform the inmate if they have an emergency, to blow the whistle until the guard comes to check on the inmate. A whistle is off-limits to any type of play other than having an emergency. So, if a guard hears a whistle, he knows to rush right away to the cell block. We also have a push button in the cell that alerts the control room and displays which cell rang the bell. This is used for if an inmate needs to speak to a guard regarding something not immediate, but still time sensitive.

Do we use safe words and what rules do I have to follow?

At HCI, we use the traditional traffic light safe wordsystem. This goes for both guards and inmates. Either side can use the safewords.

  • Green - Everything is good, keep going.
  • Yellow – I am being pushed to the edge of my limits, slowdown.
  • Red – Stop the scene and reset if possible.

Rules – We haveboth hard rules and soft rules. These will be issued to you when you sign upfor the event and will have a copy in your cell.

  • Hard Rules – Followed by both the guards and the inmates. Ifyou break these rules, it may result in you being asked to leave. These rulesconsist of safety, or something that could jeopardize the event.
  • Soft Rules – Rules for the inmates to follow. If they don’tfollow them, it may result in a hearing with the warden and a punishment may beissued (all part of the play)
How much does the event cost and do I pay the same If I don’t stay all 4 days?

The cost at HCI might surprise you and might be more affordable than you might think. It’s cheaper than an average night at a hotel. For guards, the price is basically half than an inmate due to the fact you have to purchase your own uniforms. For exact pricing, inquire about joining our event and we will provide that information. The price stays the same if you decide this event is not for you and you decide to leave early. Our inmate count is based off how many guards are signed up for the event. Therefore, we would like each participant to stay the entire event to keep our ratio. But, we understand this event might not be for everyone and you choose to leave early.

What is the guard to inmate ratio?

During our events, we have a minimum of 2 inmates per every guard ratio.

What does an average day look like at HCI?

HCI offers multiple levels of security for playing. Your day ultimately depends on your security level. Check the security levels page to read about what each level can consist of.

What type of meals are served and what if I have food allergies?

We do all our cooking on site. We provide a balanced meal. We provide new meals at each event, but some meals that we have provided in the past can range from

  • Breakfast - Sandwiches/Wraps, Pancakes with sausage or bacon. Yogurt with fruit
  • Lunch – Wraps, Burgers, Sandwiches, Salads
  • Dinner – Spaghetti, Meatball Subs, Grilled Chicken
  • Sides – Baked Beans, Coleslaw, Fruits, Vegetables, Chips

During registration, there is an option to select if you have any food allergies and if you are a vegan, gluten free, dairy free or vegetarian.

Are there any dangers or risks while being at HCI? Am I safe?

HCI is located in the heart of the everglades. There may be bugs or critters onsite inside the buildings. There are wild animals outside the compounds of the prison. Alligators, panthers, coyotes, and foxes just to name a few. We have never had any wild animals on site during any of our events; but there is always that risk.
This was a real prison that closed. The prison is made of concrete and hard metals which can be unforgiving. The walls and doors are designed to keep people locked inside. Follow the rules that are provided and everyone will be fine.  Safety is our number one priority. We have multiple participants and admin staff members that are CPR certified and EMT/Medics. We have basic medical equipment on site if ever needed.

Does HCI perform intakes?

At HCI, we strive to make the event as realistic as possible. Intakes are part of the process of coming to HCI.
