It doesn't get more real than this

Test your limits in an all-inclusive, live action immerse prison experience held in a real, decommissioned maximum-security facility. From the moment you arrive, you'll be immersed in the life of an inmate arriving for their first day in prison.

An experience like no other

HCI Events began in 2021 with just a handful of passionate participants who were handed the keys and told to “have fun.” What started as a small-scale project has since grown into an immersive, live-action prison roleplay experience unlike anything else.

Our goal has always been to return HCI to its original look and feel—right down to the authentic color schemes and fixtures.

PRIVILEGES ARE EARNED

Your daily activities and level of freedom will depend on your assigned security level. You’ll take part in a realistic rehabilitation program, which includes role-specific duties and behavior-based consequences. Uncooperative inmates may find themselves in heavy restraints, a restraint chair, or extended isolation time.

HCI is a realistic and fantastic space. Spending time ‘incarcerated’ at HCI allows me to live out my deepest desires I’ve harboured for decades.
The admin team, guards and inmates create an amazing safe space for everyone who wants to come and enjoy this unique event.

If you are interested in knowing what it is like to be an inmate in a real prison, HCI is the place for you. [...]
The guards and staff do an excellent job of providing a realistic prison experience. The facility is as real as it gets and the time, money & sweat put into making this prison operational has been well worth it.

A REAL PRISON FACILITY

Originally built in 1977, HCI was an all-male prison located deep in the Florida Everglades, surrounded by swamps and wildlife.

At its peak, HCI housed nearly 800 inmates and employed approximately 140 guards, with a maximum capacity of just over 1,200 inmates.

HCI officially closed its doors in 2011 due to ongoing staffing challenges and internal corruption.
